Turkey's thermal coal imports slumped 41.7% month on month to 1.6 million tonnes in April, official data showed.
The country's total thermal coal imports were also down 27.68% from the preceding year, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
The country bought 990,700 tonnes from its largest thermal coal supplier Colombia in April, down 24.42% from the year prior and tumbling 47.89% on the month.
Followed was Russia shipping 605,300 tonnes in the month, reducing 19.07% year on year and down 16.27% month on month.
Total thermal coal imports worth $94.19 million, down 50.9% year on year and 40.93% month on month. The average import price was $59.01/t, down 32.12% from a year ago yet up 1.33% from a month earlier.
Turkey's coking coal imports stood at 474,900 tonnes, up over 100% year on year but down 21.6% month on month. Anthracite imports were 38,500 tonnes, down 21.01% on the year but soaring 50.44% month on month.
Turkey's coal imports totaled 2.2 million tonnes in April, down 12.74% from 2.52 million tonnes a year earlier and falling 35.45% from 3.41 million tonnes in March.
