Affected by this, the annual coal export target of 40 million tonnes previously set by Mongolia may be hard to achieve.

Based on historical data, the figure is estimated to stand at 2.36 million tonnes, down 20.43% from 2.97 million tonnes in the same period of the previous year while rising by 8.79% from 2.17 million tonnes in May of this year, according to www.sxcoal.com.
Data showed Mongolia exported 2.25 million tonnes of coal to China in June, accounting for 95.2% of Mongolia’s total coal exports, down 22.15% on the year while up 7.81% from the previous month, showing growth for the third consecutive month.
By coal type, bituminous coal exports reached 2.26 million tonnes, down 11.92% year on year while increasing by 9.35% month on month; anthracite exports were 21.88 million tonnes, much lower than 2.78 million tonnes in the same period last year and falling by 19.86% from May.
According to a non-routine work meeting of the Mongolian government on July 10, Mongolia has decided to extend high-alert status of COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control by another 15 days to July 31.
