China posted a 38.8% monthly rise in steel products imports in July, compared with 46.7% increase in June, showed official data.
The country imported 2.61 million tonnes of steel products in the month, worth $1.73 billion, according to the latest data from the General Administration of Customs.
Average import price was calculated at $663.93/t, falling $95.07/t or 12.5% month on month, deepening from 12.1% decrease in June.
Over January-July, China's steel products imports surged 49.3% on the year to 9.95 million tonnes, with value at $8.66 billion, up 7.7% from a year ago. Import price averaged $870.58/t.
