China imported 7.35 million tonnes of natural gas in July, falling 0.99 million or 11.8% from the preceding year, showed data from the General Administration of Customs on August 7.
The imports value came in at $2.43 billion last month, data showed.
The July average import price was calculated at $330.8/t, rising $12.2/t or 3.8% from June but sliding 6.2% from June.
The decline in imports was mainly associated with slack consumption season of natural gas in July. Besides, rising global oil prices also pushed up average price of imported natural gas and dented its price competitiveness.
In January-July, China's imports of natural gas totaled 55.71 million tonnes, up by 1.9% year on year. The value dropped 16.6% to $20.23 billion. The average import price was calculated at $363.1/t.
