Mongolian coal truck drivers will be allowed to stay overnight at Chinese border crossing of Ganqimaodu starting August 12, if they fail to catch up with the night customs clearance deadline, according to the Mongolian Consulate General in Hohhot, China.
The decision was made during Mongolian Consul General in Hohhot's visit to the border on the expansion of the transnational exchange of goods in Green Channel, aiming to expand Mongolia's coal exports to China.
Chinese border management committee will arrange personnel to pick up Mongolian drivers who have not gone through Chinese customs check points within the clearance time to the designated place for accommodation, and arrange nucleic acid testing, etc.
Starting from August 12, the customs clearance time at the Ganshuunsukhait-Ganqimaodu border crossing has been adjusted to from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
The border is the most important mineral export access from Mongolia to China, with an average of 400-500 trucks laden with coal heading there, the Mongolia's Ministry of Transport and Development said on August 6.
There are 14,150 vehicles from 232 companies mainly engaged in transnational cargo transportation at the border.
