Major coal-fired power plants in Hubei province received 3.05 million tonnes of thermal coal in September, falling 33.2% or 1.52 million tonnes from a year ago, said the provincial development and reform commission.
Coal deliveries from Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Anhui were 693,000 tonnes, 691,000 tonnes, 301,000 tonnes and 51,000 tonnes in the month, falling by 189,000 tonnes, 340,000 tonnes, 207,000 tonnes, and 4,000 tonnes.
In September, 1.88 million tonnes were shipped through railway, down 592,000 tonnes, with 148,000 tonnes delivered through Haoji railway.
Around 1.09 million tonnes of coal were shipped via waterway, down by 853,000 tonnes, while shipment through road transport fell 74,000 tonnes to 84,000 tonnes.
In January-September, coal-fired utilities in Hubei received 30.96 million tonnes of thermal coal, down 25.8%, while thermal coal consumption decreased by 24.7% to 31.24 million tonnes.
As of end-September, thermal coal stocks in Hubei were 4.68 million tonnes, rising151,000 tonnes, which could cover 43 days of usage based on daily consumption of 107,000 tonnes in October last year.
