U.S produced 46.6 million short tons (42.27 million tonnes) of coal in October, falling 19.2% from the year-ago level of 57.67 million short tons, but up 3.34% from 45.09 million short tons in September, according to Energy Information Agency (EIA).
Coal production trend in U.S this year mainly presented as a V shape. October coal production was 16.21% lower than this year's peak of 55.61 million short tons in January, but was 26.17% higher than the year's lowest level of 36.93 million short tons in May.
In the year to October, U.S's coal production reached 446 million short tons, down 25.44% from 599 million short tons in the same period last year, and 29.12% lower than 630 million short tons in the same period of 2018, the data showed.
