Non-fossil fuel is expected to account for more than 20% of China's energy mix by 2025, according to an industry study compiled by the Center of Energy & Environmental Policy Research (CEEP), Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT).
Big steps forward is also expected to be made in cross-regional and cross-provincial electricity trading by the same year, said Wei Yiming, vice-president of BIT and director of CEEP.
The 14th Five-Year Plan period will be an important transformation phase of China's energy development, and significant progress is expected to be made in the safe, efficient, clean and low-carbon transformation of the energy system, according to the report of Forecast and Prospect of China's Energy Demand during the 14th Five-Year Plan Period.
The report is one of the research results from a research team led by Wei Yiming. Since 2011, BIT has released such report for 11 consecutive years, which has won wide attention from the society.
