China exported 101,000 tonnes of coal in May, rising 3.4% over the year-ago level but tumbling 58.33% over the month before, according to data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
However, based on the data published by the GAC last year, the exports kept flat year on year.
The export value increased 20.8% on the year to $17.59 million in May, down 61.04% over the preceding month. Based on this, the export price was calculated at $175.91/t, an increase of $30.33/t over the year earlier but falling $12.2/t from a month ago.
China's coal exports totaled 1.1 million tonnes in the first five months, sliding 27.4% over January-May of last year, with the cumulative value falling 23.6% to $172.59 million.
