Vietnam's coal exports totaled 189,900 tonnes in August, more than tripling from 61,200 tonnes in the same month a year ago and up 37.79% from July, preliminary customs data showed.
The volume in August hit the second highest this year only to June, when a historic record of monthly coal exports was created.
The coal exports last month were $22.13 million in total, up 175.9% from the same month last year, and up 25.79% month on month.
The Philippines, the largest destination of Vietnam's coal exports in August, received 82,500 tonnes, while it didn't buy any coal in the same month last year; Indonesia bought 28,800 tonnes of coal from Vietnam, and the figure was also zero in August 2020,
From January to August, Vietnam's coal exports totaled 1.21 million tonnes, up 156.8% from a year ago; value rose 127% on year to $148 million.
