China's coal imports jumped 76.07% from a year ago and rose 17.22% from August to 32.88 million tonnes in September, showed data from the General Administration of Customs (GAC).
Value of the imports totaled $3.91 billion, soaring 233.66% year on year and rose 25.76% month on month. Sxcoal calculated the average import price at $119/t, up $56.21/t year on year and $8.08/t month on month.
China imported a total of 230.4 million tonnes of coal in January-September, down 3.6% on the year, 6.7 percentage points slower than the growth in January-August. The imports value was $21.05 billion, up 26.1% on the year, the GAC data showed.
