India Oct coal production up nearly 15% YoY

India produced 63.83 million tonnes of coal in October, rising 14.86% from the previous year and 23.46% from September, showed data from Ministry of Coal of India.


The October coal output created a new record since April this year.


India's coal production rose 12.24% from 338 million tonnes a year ago to 379.5 million tonnes during April-October.


Coal India Ltd. (CIL) produced 49.8 million tonnes of coal in October, up 6.36% on the year and 22.51% on the month, a share of 78% against the country's total. The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) churned out 5.3 million of coal, rising 36.25% on the year. The production in captive mines jumped 79.63% year on year to 8.73 million tonnes.


During April-October, CIL's coal production rose 5.95% to 299.6 million tonnes, and SCCL's output surged 60% to 35.25 million tonnes and captive miners produced a total of 44.66 million tonnes, up 34.07% on the year.


In October, India sold 70.41 million tonnes of coal, a year-on-year rise of 17.64% and a month-on-month increase of 17.74%, sending the January-October sales to 448 million tonnes, up 23.88% from 362 million tonnes a year ago.
