Daily crude steel output at key member firms of China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) was registered at 2.09 million tonnes during December 21-31, rising 10.67% compared with the previous ten days although still 3.27% lower compared with the same period in 2020, the CISA data showed.
Daily production of pig iron averaged 1.89 million tonnes, up 15.27% from ten days ago but still down 0.19% from the same period in the year prior. Daily output of finished steel increased 7.11% from ten days ago but fell 12.38% from the year prior to 1.96 million tonnes.
Basing on the production data from CISA member mills, China was estimated to produce a total of 28.97 million tonnes of crude steel during the same period, with daily output rising 9.73% from ten days ago to 2.63 million tonnes.
Total output of pig iron in China was estimated at 24.50 million tonnes, with daily output rising 12.58% to 2.23 million tonnes. Total finished steel output was expected to reach 36.01 million tonnes, with daily output rising 6.02% to 3.27 million tonnes.
As of December 31, CISA key member steel mills held 11.30 million tonnes of finished steel stocks, down 16.75% or 2.27 million tonnes from ten days ago and falling 9.51% or 1.19 million tonnes from the late November level. The volume was 2.79% or 0.32 million tonnes lower compared with the start of the year, and 2.79% or 0.32 million tonnes lower compared with the year-ago level, data showed.
