The accumulative commercial power generation of China National Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. stood at 182.64 TWh in 2021, rising by 24.79 TWh or 18.61% compared with the preceding year. The company's on-grid power reached 171.04 TWh in 2021, up 19.11% on the year, according to an official statement issued by the company.
China National Nuclear Power is a listed company under the country's largest nuclear power company China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC).
In terms of nuclear power, China National Nuclear Power generated a total of 173.12 TWh in 2021, an increase of 16.71% from a year ago; the cumulative on-grid electricity stood at 161.73 TWh, rising about 17.11% year on year. The average utilization hours of the company's existing nuclear units were 7,871 hours, an increase of 250 hours over last year.
The company's new energy power generation and capacity also increased significantly after the acquisition of CNNC Rich Energy Corporation.
The cumulative new energy power generation of the company amounted to 9.51 TWh, an increase of 68.69% over last year; the on-grid electricity stood at 9.31 TWh, an increase of 69.27%. Among them, solar power generation was 4.97 TWh, rising 109.77% year on year, and wind power generation at 4.55 TWh, up 39% on the year.
The company targets to generate 196 TWh of power in 2022. However, the company pointed out some main challenges that it may face in the year, including the possible decline of power demand due to macroeconomic factors; the risk of new units not being put into operation on time; and the possible decline of power generation caused by unplanned power reduction or shutdown of units.
