Central China's Hubei province consumed 247.15 TWh of electricity in the whole year of 2021, up 15.27% from a year earlier, the provincial branch of State Grid said on January 10.
Specifically, the residential segment consumed 45.49 TWh last year, up 3.55% from 2020 and 4.22% from 2019.
For non-residential segments, the primary industries, mainly the agricultural sector, consumed 2.86 TWh of electricity, rising 25.15% from the preceding year and 26.3% from 2019.
The secondary industries, mainly the industrial sector, consumed 151.71 TWh of electricity, growing 16.77% from the year before and 12.68% from two years ago. Power consumption by the tertiary industries, mainly the service sector, reached 47.9 TWh, increasing 23.03% from the year prior and 15.21% from 2019.
The province started the construction of five UHV transmission projects and put 1,556km of 110Kv-and-above transmission lines into operation.
The grid load in Hubei hit record highs three times last year but managed to prevent power shortage from happening, making the province one of four provinces that didn't restrict power consumption in the country.
