China's power consumption reached 8,312.8 TWh of electricity in 2021, up 10.3% from 2020 and 14.7% from 2019, with two-year average growth at 7.1%. showed data from National Energy Administration on January 17.
Power consumed by the primary industry — mainly agricultural sector — increased 16.4% from the year before to 102.3 TWh, while power usage by the secondary industry — mainly industrial sector — rose 9.1% year on year to 5,613.1 TWh, and that by the tertiary industry — mainly service sector — climbed 17.8% from the year prior to 1,423.1 TWh.
Electricity consumed by the residential sector reached 1,174.3 TWh, up 7.3% from the year-ago level.
