Alberta province of Canada produced 1.60 million tonnes of coal in November, rising 6.9% from the year-ago level and 9.04% from a month earlier, according to data released by the Alberta Energy Regulator.
Bituminous coal production was 1.26 million tonnes in November, up 1.89% on the month. Sub-bituminous coal production increased 38.33% month on month to 324,600 tonnes. Coking coal production was 194 million tonnes, compared with 0 in the preceding month.
In January-November, Alberta's coal production totaled 12.87 million tonnes, down 25.25% from a year ago, with 8.25 million tonnes of bituminous coal (-3.23% YoY) and 4.60 million tonnes of sub-bituminous coal (-35.51% YoY).
In 2020, the province produced 18.78 million tonnes of coal, down 4.05% from 19.57 million tonnes in 2019. Bituminous coal output stood at 9.42 million tonnes, up 26.21%, and sub-bituminous coal at 7.8 million tonnes, down 38.4%.
