Ukraine's coal production in 2021 was 29.39 million tonnes, up 2% year on year, showed data from the Ministry of Energy.
In 2021, Ukraine produced a total of 22.15 million tonnes of thermal coal, down 2.3% from 2020; while that of coking coal increased 18% to 7.23 million tonnes.
Coal production in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk was 16.03 million tonnes, up 0.2% year on year, while coal production in Donetsk was 11.89 million tonnes, up 5.7% year on year.
In the year, coal production in Lviv was 1.18 million tonnes, down 9.2% on the year; 258,000 tonnes in Lugansk, up 14% year on year; 24,000 tones in Volyn, down 29% year on year.
The state-run mines in Ukraine jumped 90% on the year to 5.45 million tonnes in 2021.
Ukraine produced 2.77 million tonnes of coal in December alone, up 7% from the year prior.
