China's Erenhot border crossing imported 529,000 tonnes of coal during the first quarter of 2022, rising 7.7% compared with the preceding year, state media Xinhua reported, citing statistical data from local customs authority.
Erenhot is one of the key inland ports on the border with Mongolia.
China has announced to lift import tariffs for all kinds of coal from May 1, 2022 until March 31, 2023. This will reduce the tariffs of the local coal import enterprises by 120-140 million yuan ($17.94-20.93 million) within this year, according to Xinhua.
On May 1, a total 3,176.85 tonnes of coal imported by Jiachen International Trade (Inner Mongolia) Co., Ltd. was declared at the tentative tax rate, which helps the company reduce about 170,800 yuan of taxes, the report said.
