Coal exports through Gladstone port in Australia in April fell to the lowest point since May 2018, showed data from Australia Gladstone Ports Corporation.
In April, Gladstone exported 4.7 million tonnes of coal, down 11% year on year and 13.7% month on month.
April shipments to China's mainland remained zero for the 18th consecutive month since Beijing unofficially banned coal imports from Australia.
Coal exports to Japan were 2.02 million tonnes in April, up 25.8% year on year and 23.2% month on month. Departures to India stood at 968,000 tonnes, slumping 40.2% year on year and down 15.2% month on month.
Gladstone exported 826,000 tonnes of coal to South Korea, down 1.2% from the year prior and 36.3% from a month ago.
The port exported 20.42 million tonnes of coal during the first four months of 2022, declining 9.5% from the year prior.
Of the all coal exports, about 70% are metallurgical coal and the remaining 30% are thermal coal.
