South Korea imported 30,300 tonnes of coke in April, falling 1.62% year on year but jumping 64.67% month on month, customs data showed.
China remained the major coke supplier to South Korea. The country bought 29,400 tonnes of coke from China in April, decreasing 2.65% year on year but surging 63.33% month on month. The volume accounted for 97% of the total imports, 1 percentage points lower than a month ago.
South Korea spent $16.56 million in April for coke imports, soaring 53.18% year on year and 59.34% month on month. The import price therefore averaged $546.44/t, up 55.71% year on year but down 3.24% month on month.
In January-April, South Korea's coke imports totaled 109,300 tonnes, rising 4.49% from a year ago, with shipment from China at 100,600 tonnes, up 4.14% on the year, a share of 92%.
