China produced 336.15 million tonnes of crude steel during January-April 2022, falling by 10.5% from the same period a year ago, showed data from National Bureau of Statistics on May 16.
In April alone, the crude steel output in China fell 5.2% on the year but rose 5.1% from the preceding month to 92.78 million tonnes, with daily production calculated at 3.09 million tonnes, up 8.6% from the month-ago level.
China's pig iron production decreased 9.4% on the year to 280.30 million tonnes in the first four months of 2022, and the April figure was steady year on year but climbed 7.2% from the preceding month to 76.78 million tonnes, with daily volume averaging at 2.56 million tonnes, up 10.8% from the previous month.
Steel products production in China dropped 5.9% on the year to 426.82 million tonnes during January to April.
The steel products output in April fell 5.8% on the year and 1.8% from the preceding month to 114.83 million tonnes, with daily output calculated at 3.83 million tonnes, gaining 1.5% from the month-ago level.
