Adani Enterprises and ten other agencies have expressed interest in bidding for coal import tenders floated by Coal India.
Coal India, designated to import coal for utilities, has held three pre-bid talks with potential importers, who showed interest in participating in the three international e-tenders issued earlier this month.
On June 9, Coal India launched the first tender to import 2.42 million tonnes of coal. The next day two other medium-term tenders sourcing 6 million tonnes from overseas were floated.
The supply schedule was based on a particular percentage of delivery in each month of the second quarter of FY 2022-23 (July-September).
Quantity and quality testing will be undertaken by a third-party sampling agency entrusted by Coal India.
The last date to receive bids is June 29 for the short-term tender and July 5 for medium-term tenders.
