China's state planning agency approved 10 coal mines in Xinjiang to raise production capacity on June 13, to ensure the country's energy security, according to a report by Xinjiang Daily.
The list includes mines owned by the Xinjiang branch of CHN Energy, Xinjiang Tianchi Energy Co. Ltd. and Guanghui Energy Co. Ltd.
Heshan Opencast mine, belong to CHN Energy's Xinjiang branch, is allowed to raise its output capacity from 13 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) to 16 Mtpa. Since 2019, the company has increased capacity twice.
Plus previous approved capacity, the new capacity will be 22 Mtpa. After that, the company's total capacity will reach 96.9 Mtpa, being the first coal miner in Xinjiang whose annual capacity close to 100 Mtpa.
