Daily crude steel output at key member firms of China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) stood at 1.89 million tonnes during July 21-31, falling 7.25% compared with the previous ten days and falling 10.27% compared with the same period in 2021, the CISA data showed.
Daily production of pig iron averaged 1.75 million tonnes during the given period, falling 7.72% from ten days ago and 6.8% from the same period in the year prior. Daily output of finished steel decreased 5.35% from ten days ago and 10.78% from the year prior to 1.989 million tonnes.
Basing on the production data from CISA member mills, China was estimated to produce a total of 29.37 million tonnes of crude steel during the same period, with daily output down 5.88% from ten days ago to 2.67 million tonnes, the CISA said.
Total output of pig iron in China was estimated at 25.42 million tonnes, with daily output down 6.19% to 2.31 million tonnes. Total finished steel output was estimated to reach 39.76 million tonnes, with daily output falling 4.11% to 3.61 million tonnes.
As of July 31, CISA key member steel mills held 16.6 million tonnes of finished steel stocks, 12.79% lower than mid-July, and 46.91% higher than the start of the year and 20.15% higher compared with the same period in 2021, data showed.
