China imported 789,000 tonnes of steel products in July, falling 0.3% compared with the preceding month ago and down 24.8% year on year, marking the fourth straight month of decline, according to the data released by the General Administration of Customs on August 7.
Total import amount came in at $1.35 billion in July, down 1.2% on the month and falling 4.3% year on year. The average import price was calculated at $1,716.89/t during the same period, down 0.9% from the preceding month but up 27.3% year on year.
During the first seven months, China imported 6.56 million tonnes of steel products, down 21.9% year on year. The total imports were worth $10.35 billion, up 0.7% year on year, with the calculated average import price at $1,578.34/t last month, up 28.9% year on year.
