Russia's seaborne coal exports totaled 14.24 million tonnes in November, retreating 8.84% from the preceding month but rising 16.36% year on year. China's mainland and South Korea-bound shipment registered both yearly and sequential growth, according to Kpler's cargo-tracking data.
Russia exported 9.64 million tonnes of coal to Asian market, up 2.77% on the month and 24.83% year on year. The volume represented 68% of Russian's total seaborne coal shipments.
Among the total, 5.19 million tonnes or 36% of total shipments went to China's mainland in November, climbing 48.65% year on year and 7.14% month on month.
Shipment bound for South Korea soared 49.10% from a month ago and 79.60% from a year ago to 2.24 million tonnes, data showed.
Coal exports to India increased 95.42% on the year but declined 26.39% on the month to 977,400 tonnes in November.
Russia shipped 1.99 million tonnes of seaborne coal to Europe in November, down 24.50% month on month but rising 47.01% year on year, accounting for 14% of the total.
The EU has banned import of coal from Russia since August 10, but companies have been allowed to ship Russian-origin goods to third countries since EU published new FAQs on September 19.
Russian coal exports to transcontinental Turkey stood at 1.77 million tonnes, down 25.39% month on month but surging 467.40% year on year.
Russia exported a total of 157 million tonnes of seaborne met coal during the first 11 months of 2022, down 2.39% from a year ago, showed Kpler's data.
