CGN New Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., a listed arm of the nuclear power giant China General Nuclear Power Group, produced 1,029.2 GWh of electricity in July, down 12.2% year on year, the company said on its website on August 12.
Wind generation increased 41.9% on the year to 301.3 GWh; solar output rose 58.6% to 115.6 GWh; thermal and hydro power declined 80.7% and 14.7% respectively to 41 GWh and 95 GWh, according to a statement issued by the company.
Gas-fired projects it owns in South Korea produced 476.3 GWh of power in the month, down 15.3% year on year.
The company attributed the thermal power decline to one project that has suspended operation January 2020 due to restricted access to local water supply, while the hydro drop was mainly due to a 81% slump in water inflow of a project in Guangxi province.
It also noted a delayed major maintenance of generating unit resulted in the year-on-year decline in the South Korean power generation.
In recent years, CGN New Energy has accelerated its deployment in new energy sectors such as wind and photovoltaics. By far, CGN New Energy has more than 300 wind and solar projects in operation in China, and has an equity wind capacity of 12.73 GW in operation.
From January to July, the company completed a total 7,889.0 GWh of power generation, an increase of 1.7% over the same period in 2019.
