JSW Steel, the flagship business of $12 billion JSW Group, posted a 5% yearly drop in crude steel output to 1.25 million tonnes in July, it said in a statement on August 11.
Yet the production was 9% higher than in June. In July, capacity utilization averaged 83%, up from 76% in June as the firm halted production at Vijayanagar Works after some workers were infected with the COVID-19 pandemic.
JSW Steel is among the fastest-developing firms in India, and its business covers over 140 countries in the world. After merger with ISPAT Iron and Steel, JSW Steel becomes India's second largest private steel firm, and its steel production capacity reaches 18 million tonnes a year.
