Global crude steel production rose 7% from a year ago to 161.9 million tonnes in October, showed data from the World Steel Association (WSA) on November 24.
At present, countries are still challenged by severe COVID-19 pandemic. Part of countries' October crude steel production is estimated figure that may be altered in next month, said the WSA.
In October, China churned out 92.2 million tonnes of crude steel, up 12.7% year on year, and India's output ticked up by 0.9% year on year to 9.1 million tonnes.
Japan saw a fall in its crude steel output of 11.7% from a year ago to 7.2 million tonnes in October. South Korea's output fell 1.8% on the year to 5.9 million tonnes.
In the month, crude steel output in Germany rose 3.1% from a year ago to 3.4 million tonnes. Crude steel output of Italy and Spain fell, by 4.6% and 7.7% separately to 2.1 and 1.1 million tonnes, data showed.
Production from the U.S contracted 15.3% to 6.1 million tonnes in October. CIS produced 8.4 million tonnes, up 4.7% year on year.
Turkey's crude steel output was up by 19.4% year on year to 3.2 million tonnes in October, and Ukraine produced 1.7 million tonnes, up 5.9% on the year. Brazil's crude steel production was up 3.5% on the year to 2.8 million tonnes, according to WSA.
