China's central safety watchdog dispatched 16 supervision groups to 31 provinces to strengthen safety till early July, in a bid to create a sound environment for the 100th anniversary of the founding of Communist Party of China that falls on July 1.
After a series of mine accidents in Shanxi province and gas-detonating in Shiyan, Hubei province ahead of July 1, Office of the Work Safety Commission of China's State Council held a video meeting on June 17 to deploy safety inspections.
The inspection focusing on 15 key sectors covering coal mines, non-coal digging, fire-fighting, hazardous chemical, gas and so on.
In terms of coal sector, the stricter safety checks are expected to compound recent supply tightness that was mainly caused by production cuts by many miners, and support coal prices in the short run.
