Indonesia's coal exports reached a 7-month high of 37.72 million tonnes in August, up 28.8% from the year-ago level and 12.65% from the previous month, showed data from Statistics Indonesia.
Data showed exports of thermal coal (bituminous and other coal) rose 15.39% from a year ago to 27.33 million tonnes in the month, up 8.92% month on month.
Other coal exports rose 8.56% year on year and 9.81% month on monthto 23.36 million tonnes. Exports of bituminous coal jumped 83.09% on the year and increased 3.96% on the month to 3.97 million tonnes in August.
Indonesia shipped the largest volume of coal to China in the month, at 19.52 million tonnes, jumping 240% from a year ago, and rising 33.11% month on month; exports to India slumped 48.13% on the year to 4.55 million tonnes, up 2.95% month on month.
Indonesia exported 285 million tonnes of coal in January-August, rising 5.77% on the year.
