China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd., a listed arm of China Energy Investment Corp, saw polyolefin sales slump 78.6% from the year prior and down 68.7% from September to 12,400 in October, the company said in a report on November 16.
Polyethylene sales decreased 74.2% from the year-ago level to 7,800 tonnes in the month, while polypropylene sales were 4,600 tonnes, a year-on-year decrease of 83.4% and falling 78.1% month on month.
In January-October, sales of polyolefin totaled 542,600 tonnes, down 6.9% or 40,200 tonnes on the year. Polyethylene sales decreased 7.8% year on year to 278,500 tonnes during the period, while polypropylene sales fell 5.9% on the year to 264,100 tonnes.
The slump in polyolefin sales was attributed to equipment maintenance at its affiliated Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co., Ltd until October 21, with only 7 days in normal operation.
