South Korea's anthracite imports reached this year's highest level in November at 738,700 tonnes, up 67.16% on the year and 43.21% on the month, customs data showed.
South Korea took the largest amount of anthracite from Australia at 448,900 tonnes in November, surging 133.56% year on year and 75.83% from October, accounting for 60.8% of the country's total imports; intakes from Russia increased 12.72% year on year and 7.6% month on month to 274,700 tonnes.
The import value jumped by 286.23% year on year to $156 million in November. That translates to an average import price of $211.6/t, skyrocketing 131.05% year on year and up 16.09% month on month.
In January-November, South Korea's anthracite imports totaled 6.04 million tonnes, 9.61% from the year-ago level. The cumulative import value increased 34% year on year to $794 million.
