South Korea's thermal coal (other bituminous coal and other coal) imports fell for the third straight month in April to hit the lowest since February 2021, customs data showed.
The country's thermal coal intakes were registered at 5.96 million tonnes in April, down 6.48% from 6.37 million tonnes in the preceding year and falling 9.5% from 6.59 million tonnes in March.
South Korea imported 5.68 million tonnes of other bituminous coal in April, declining 7.86% year on year and 12.37% month on month. Other coal imports increased 34.6% year on year and 170% month on month to 278,900 tonnes.
The value of thermal coal import amounted to $1.02 billion in April, surging 105.08% from a year ago but dropping 1.74% from the month before. The import price was calculated at $171.33/t, jumping 119.29% year on year.
