Russia produced 43.3 million tonnes of coal in December, rising 8.25% on the month and 11.91% on the year, realizing the fifth month of consecutive increase, according to data released by the Federal Statistical Service (Rosstat).
Among the total, 78% was from Siberian Federal District, at 33.59 million tonnes, up 11.83% month on month and 11.46% year on year.
In December, anthracite output in Russia was 1.97 million tonnes, up 8.81% from the previous month but down 13.69% from the year before; coking coal 9.79 million tonnes, up 4.5% from November and 2.5% from a year ago.
Russia's lignite production came in at 9.93 million tonnes, a year-on-year rise of 11.61% and a month-on-month jump of 22.39%. Other bituminous coal output was 21.6 million tonnes, up 8.47% month on month and 15.28% on the year, Rosstat data showed.
Russia produced 436 million tonnes of coal in 2022, up 0.89%.
