The first shipment of coal from Kyrgyzstan's Osh city arrived in border city Kashgar in northwestern China's Xinjiang on May 21.
The shipment, consisting of four container trucks and two bulk trucks, completed customs clearance at the Irkeshtam land port in Xinjiang before reaching its destination, the customs-supervised warehouse of Xinjiang Qianhai International Logistics Co., Ltd.
This breakthrough marks the establishment of a vital procurement channel for coal imports from Kyrgyzstan's Osh to China's Kashgar, buoyed by the momentum of the Belt and Road Initiative and the shared vision forged at the China-Central Asia Summit.
The inaugural batch of imported coal, totaling 154.69 tonnes, represents the efforts of Adilbek LLC, a coal mining and sales company based in Osh, Kyrgyzstan.
Adilbek LLC seized the opportunity facilitated by the burgeoning trade relations between Kashgar, Xinjiang, and Osh, Kyrgyzstan, culminating in the first-ever coal import venture between the two cities. Both countries plan to expand the volume of customs clearance and bolster their economic and trade ties.
The successful arrival of the coal shipment heralds a new era of cooperation in the mining sector between Kyrgyzstan and China, paving the way for increased economic integration and mutual benefits.
