Coal production of Mongolia came in at 6.93 million tonnes in January 2024, rising 12.28% year on year yet declining 17.64% month on month, showed data from the National Statistical Office of Mongolia.
The country produced a total 81.19 million tonnes of coal last year, jumping 118.21% from the preceding year.
Mongolia's iron ore production was 345,400 tonnes in January, ticking up 1.95% on the year yet down 19.11% on the month. This included 178,300 tonnes of iron sand, falling 22.14% year on year and 47.08% from the previous month, and 167,100 tonnes of iron concentrate, surging 52.19% from a year ago and 85.46% month on month.
Production of iron ore in Mongolia totaled 7.64 million tonnes over 2023, down 18.73% year on year. Iron sand output was 5.33 million tonnes, down 30.41% year on year, and iron concentrate production increased 32.84% to 2.30 million tonnes.
