Crude steel output at key member firms of China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) reached 66.29 million tonnes in February, edging up 0.71% from a year ago, the CISA data showed.
Daily output of crude steel at these companies averaged 2.29 million tonnes, rising 2.5% from January.
Their production of pig iron was 59.27 million tonnes during the month, up 2.4% year on year, with the daily output up 3.7% on the month to 2.04 million tonnes.
Finished steel production came in at 63.36 million tonnes, down 1.55% year on year; daily output of finished steel rose 2.09% from the previous month to 2.18 million tonnes, data showed.
Over January-February, the CISA's key member steel mills produced 136.55 million tonnes of crude steel, 3.89% higher than the year-ago level. Daily output of crude steel in the same period averaged at 2.28 million tonnes.
Pig iron output totaled 120.97 million tonnes over the first two months, up 3.04% from the previous year, while finished steel production increased 3.64% on the year to 130.88 million tonnes, data showed.
