Five southern provinces - Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and Hainan - added 239.4 GW of non-fossil fuel power generation capacity into existed mix in January-September, according to a press conference of China Southern Power Grid Co. Ltd. on October 9.
The newly-added clean energy capacity accounted for 81.5% of their new capacity, nearly 10 percentage points higher than the average in China.
The company's data showed new energy capacity in the above five provinces have surpassed 1,000 GW as of the end of September, with its share against total power mix at 59% and this figure is expected to break 60% by the end of 2023.
With the shaping of clean energy power supply landscape, China Southern Power also guaranteed stable electricity supply.
During summers, power load of the company's main electricity framework and in these five provinces snatched up new highs 20 times.
Power consumption in the five provinces also rose 6.4% year on year during first eight months.
